Meet the Doctors

Dr. Lester

Steven G. Lester, MD

Dr. Lester was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana. He completed his internship in radiation oncology, followed by his residency training in radiation oncology at Indiana University Hospitals, where he also served as chief resident. While at IU, Dr. Lester wrote several research papers on testicular cancer and Intraoperative Radiotherapy. After completing his radiation oncology training, Dr. Lester returned to his home state of Louisiana to join the Department of Radiation Oncology at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. During his time at Ochsner, Dr. Lester served as the Assistant Director of Ochsner Cancer Institute as well as Acting Chairman of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Lester has been serving the Central Florida community since December of 1988. In 2004, Dr. Lester with his partner, John D. Looper, MD., founded Central Florida Cancer Care Center in Sanford, Florida. His outside interests include LSU Football, New Orleans Saints, tennis, spending time with his wife and two daughters and visiting his son who attends Davidson College.

Dr. Lester is board certified in radiation oncology and a fellow of American College of Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Looper

John D. Looper, MD

Dr. Looper was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He received his undergraduate degree in Cell Biology at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona and went on to receive his medical degree from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. Dr. Looper completed his internship in radiation oncology, followed by his residency training at Indiana University Medical Center where he served as chief resident. While at IU, Dr. Looper wrote several publications and conducted presentations on Small Cell Carcinoma of the Lung. Upon completion of his radiation oncology training, Dr. Looper traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio where he served as the Director of the Intercommunity Cancer Center.

Dr. Looper has been serving the Central Florida community since June of 1984. With twenty years experience in the Orlando area, Dr. Looper and his partner, Steven G. Lester, realized that in order to uphold their philosophy of personalized care they needed to construct a facility that would successfully combine state-of-the-art technology with compassion. In 2004, they opened a new 12,000 square foot, state-of-the-art cancer center in Sanford.

Dr. Looper's outside interests include a love of history, traveling to Africa and spending time with his wife and three children. Dr. Looper is board certified in radiation oncology.

Dr. Gossain

Maneesh Gossain, MD

Dr. Gossain grew up in East Lansing, Michigan. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After working in Silicon Valley as an engineer, Dr. Gossain went on to pursue his medical degree from Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Gossain completed his internship in internal medicine at Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois, followed by his radiation oncology residency training at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While in residency, Dr. Gossain did research investigating the placement of specialized markers to facilitate treatment of gynecologic cancers.

A board-certified radiation oncologist, Dr. Gossain has specialized training and experience in providing brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, IMRT and IGRT. He is also a member of the following professional societies: American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Radiological Society of North America and the American College of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Gossain's areas of interest include prostate cancer, head and neck cancer and breast cancer.

Outside of work, Dr. Gossain in an avid tennis player and enjoys playing basketball and soccer.
