Board-certified radiation oncologists Dr. John Looper and Dr. Steven Lester opened Central Florida Cancer Care Center in 2004, and the Orlando Cancer Institute last year.

Both facilities offer the latest advances in radiation therapy. That includes some of the most versatile radiation oncology systems in existence—systems that give clinicians the ability to carefully target tumor cells while minimizing the amount of exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. The MammoSite Radiation Therapy System, which is especially efficient in the treatment of breast cancer,was added to the practice’s menu of state-of-the-art treatments in early 2007.“This device is comprised of a balloon catheter that allows us to internally administer the prescribed doses of radiation to targeted breast tissue in a five-day course of therapy,” Dr. Lester explains.
